Trading on the Beach is Overrated

Being able to trade financial markets from the beach is often regarded as the pinnacle of where any’successful trader’ should be… However, trading from the beach is exaggerated. In fact, it’s a royal pain in the arse! The ball and chain effect The ball and chain effect – because your laptop is likely to be the most valuable thing in your possession at the beach, let alone the most valuable thing on the beach, fear of loss, theft, or damage will creep in at precisely the moments when you should be relaxing and enjoying yourself. “Would you like to go swimming and snorkelling in the sea?” – “No, you’re fine… “You’re taking care of your laptop!”   Read More...   Money markets Following the release of inflation data, financial markets increased their bets on the ECB raising interest rates. The ECB is expected to tighten by 115 basis points by the end of the year, with a 40 percent chance of a 50 basis point hike in July. This represents an increase from the 110 basis points that were priced in at the end of last week. With headline inflation already above 8%, the story isn’t so much about rising energy prices. The increase in price pressures is visible in all areas: As a result, be wary that we might hear some murmurs about how those discussions are going, which could create a more nervous atmosphere for next week’s meeting. Based on what policymakers have told us, it may not yet be a ‘live’ one, but let’s wait and see what the ECB message is after today to be sure. Read More... All That Glitters is Gold

To be drawn to shiny objects, you do not have to be a “jewellery person.” It is human nature, according to scientists.  We’ve always sought refuge in this precious metal in times of need, so it’s no surprise that jewellery designers and museum curators are in high demand.  Throughout history, when times were tough, people turned to this yellow precious metal. So, with inflation, multiple democracies in crisis, and the lingering effects of a pandemic, it is not surprising that there appears to be a modern-day gold rush.  According to one theory, our prehistoric ancestors developed this attraction while searching for water sources in the wilderness. When we see the flash of metal or the flicker of diamonds today, it reminds us of the sparkle of a drinking pool in sunlight. In response, we move toward it.  “Gold provides reassurance in these troubled times.” It’s forever been a place of refuge, and storing is an approach to managing tension. “Anoth...

Trading Journals

There is never time to do anything other than research and discover a potential stock worth trading in. Maintaining a trading journal may be low on their priority list in such circumstances.  The trading journal should be given the attention it deserves as a tool that can be invaluable to any trader. A Trading Journal A trading journal is a diary that a trader keeps of everything that happens at work and the thoughts that come to mind regarding his trading experiences.  It is similar to a diary, which some of us prefer to keep in order to record what happened in a day and how we felt about it. The only difference is that a trading journal is not a personal diary, but rather a professional journal.  Read More... Factors affecting successful Forex Trading

Choosing a single time frame for forex trading is insufficient. Here are some fundamental factors to consider when trading. ·       News releases All three types of traders must be aware of any scheduled or unscheduled news releases and understand how they will affect the market. These press releases may be related to central bank press conferences, interest rate decisions, or other economic announcements. Whatever they are, you must adjust your trading strategy accordingly.  These unexpected news releases have the greatest impact on day traders and swing traders. For the same reason, most market participants prefer a position trade. Because the position trader has already anticipated any price disruption, these incidents have the least impact on them. They are primarily concerned with long-term benchmark targets. Read More... FOREX MANAGED ACCOUNT   #edgeforex #forex #forextrading #Forexsignals #trading #trigger #leverage #news ...

Type of Forex Trader

Some factors contribute to the success of traders. These are your research and analysis abilities, instincts, and trade timing.  When it comes to foreign exchange trading, timing is everything. Perfect timing allows you to carry out your ideas and strategies effectively.  Forex traders are broadly classified into three main categories based on time frame: day traders, swing traders, and position traders.  In an intraday timeframe, a day trader makes frequent and high-volume trades.  At the end of the day, these traders rarely have anything in their hands. This means that any negative news that comes after the market closes and before the market opens the next day will not affect their trade. Read More... Food shortages because of Russia’s invasion could kill more people than the war itself.

According to UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, famine caused by grain and food shortages as a result of Ukraine’s invasion could kill more people than the war itself.  Poland has become a major entry point for Western humanitarian aid and weapons into Ukraine, as well as a conduit for Ukraine’s grain and other agricultural products to reach global markets.  Dominic Waghorn, Sky’s international affairs editor, is in Odesa on the Black Sea coast, where massive grain ships are stranded and unable to leave.  He stated that the UK is discussing a solution with European allies such as Lithuania and is considering sending warships to the area in an attempt to persuade Russia to withdraw.   Treasury yields Ten-year Treasury yields have fallen to a six-week low. The bond market remains an interesting place to watch, and after the unrelenting selloff (due to deleveraging pressures) in March and April, we are seeing steady bids in the last three weeks. It may be overdue after a year of one-way traffic, with 10-year Treasury yields more than doubling from 1.60 percent to a high of 3.20 percent just three weeks ago. Given that we have somewhat fully priced in Fed hawkishness (at least for the time being) in terms of what policymakers are signalling, it is a potentially significant trigger for bond selling to slow. The market now expects a lower and earlier terminal rate than a month ago, which makes sense. In this regard, the market may be sensing that the Fed’s window for tightening is closing. And one could argue that this is undoubtedly due to stagflation and rising recession risks. Read More... FOREX MANAGED ACCOUNT   #edgeforex #forextrading #forex...

USD/JPY outlook

Despite a small bounce on Wednesday, USD/JPY has been correcting lower in recent days, mirroring the drop in US Treasury rates.  Weakening US economic data and rising recession fears may undermine the US dollar against the Japanese yen in the coming days and weeks, according to the tight positive correlation between the USD/JPY and the US 10-year yield, and the US dollar may continue to weaken if Treasury rates continue to fall. Despite today’s modest gain, the pair has fallen from 128.20 to 127.15 in the last three days, a retreat that has coincided with the 10-year yield falling from 2.85 percent to 2.72 percent at the time of writing. The Japanese yen appears to be in a better position to extend its recovery against the US dollar in the coming days and weeks, with the US recession narrative strengthening, Treasury rates pulling back from recent highs, Wall Street in free fall, and risk-off sentiment on the rise.  Read More... Euro’s latest bounce

While European growth prospects were improving, the Russia-Ukraine conflict served as a wake-up call, adding to inflationary pressures and rising energy costs. Since June last year, it has been rather one-way traffic for the euro against the dollar as the market focused a lot on the eurozone’s and the US’s policy and economic divergences. Given the prospect of a worsening economy, the window for tightening policy may be limited.  But that hasn’t stopped markets from believing that the ECB can Deliver aggressively. As things stand, money markets have priced in 110 basis points of rate hikes by the Fed this year. That equates to at least four 25 basis point rate hikes, putting an end to Europe’s negative interest rate “experiment” – at least for the time being.  Read More... Soaring inflation raises the prospect of a worsening global crisis.

The US Federal Reserve and other major world central banks described the initial inflation rise as transitory and seen as a temporary phenomenon, primarily caused by the fast growth of the economies post-pandemic, which was expected to peak in early 2022 and then begin to ease. It appears that the central bankers miscalculated, as price growth accelerated beyond all expectations, driven by a variety of factors that, when combined, pushed inflation to multi-decade or record highs, with no signs of abating so far. After being anaemic for several years, despite numerous attempts by central banks to revitalise it and push it out of the zone well below targets, price growth has suddenly exploded in the last few months. Many economists believe that rising inflation was the result of a longer-term process, pointing to massive printing of money that was pumped into economies during the pandemic slowdown to keep them afloat and maintain ultra-low interest rates. This relates...

Russia-Ukrain e Russia High-level talks between Russia and Ukraine yield no results. Lavrov stated that a meeting between Putin and Zelensky was discussed and that the former would not turn down such an opportunity. Any such contact, however, would have to be substantive and specific. “I’m guessing that would mean Kyiv submitting to Moscow’s demands,” he added. Otherwise, I don’t see a meeting between the two at any point.” In any case, today’s meeting produced no significant results. There are no surprises here. As a result, the siege on Ukrainian cities will continue until further developments occur. The difference in tone and focus points following the meeting suggests that both sides are still far from seeing eye to eye on any peace or ceasefire. ECB Likely to Exit Negative Rates

With inflation nearing the ECB’s 2 percent target, the Governing Council has been building momentum to raise the deposit rate from its current level of -0.5 percent in July. Lagarde’s comment suggests two 25-basis-point increases at the July and September policy meetings.  While Dutch central bank chief Klaas Knot suggested last week that a half-point rate hike might be necessary, Lagarde has repeatedly stated that policy normalisation will be gradual, and she reiterated that sentiment on Monday. According to President Christine Lagarde, the European Central Bank will likely begin raising interest rates in July and exit sub-zero territory by the end of September.  “I expect net APP purchases to end very early in the third quarter,” she wrote in a blog post on Monday. “This would allow us to lift rates at our July meeting, in line with our forward guidance.” Based on current projections, we should be able to exit negative interest rates by the end of the t...

The euro is approaching parity with the US dollar.

As of Thursday morning in Europe, the euro was hovering around $1.05, after falling steadily for nearly a year, from around $1.22 in June. Earlier this week, the common currency fell to just above $1.03.  For the first time in 20 years, the euro is approaching parity with the US dollar, but currency strategists are divided on whether it will reach that level and what it will mean for investors and the economy.  Concerns about Russia’s war in Ukraine, surging inflation, supply chain issues, slowing growth, and tightening monetary policy have pushed investors toward traditional “safe haven” assets, strengthening the dollar. Divergence in monetary policy among central banks has also contributed to the narrowing of the two currencies. Britain’s Inflation Rate Soars to a 40-Year High

Consumer prices increased by 9% year on year through April, the fastest rate since March 1982, according to the Office for National Statistics in a report released on Wednesday.  Inflation in the United Kingdom has reached its highest level since Margaret Thatcher was prime minister 40 years ago, increasing pressure on the government and central bank to act.  The increase is more than double the rate of basic wage growth, putting downward pressure on consumer spending power. The pain is only going to get worse, with the Bank of England predicting double-digit inflation by October, when energy prices are almost certain to rise again. The increase in energy prices, which reflected a surge in wholesale markets, drove a 54 percent increase in consumer bills in April, up from 7% in March. Fuel prices also played a role, reflecting higher oil prices following the Ukraine war. In April, both gasoline and diesel prices reached new highs.  Read More...  ...

Oil Oil has now reached a new high for the week. This is the third consecutive week of gains. The oil market’s resilience this week is astounding. Nonetheless, oil is poised to gain for the third week in a row. The previous week’s close was $109.77, and it is currently trading at $110.16. The $110 level is also significant because it is close to the late-April interim high and the pennant that it formed. The demand side is clearly hampered right now, and this will worsen. Nonetheless, the market remains buoyant. The only nagging concern is that some major players in the EU or Asia may be aggressively stockpiling. Russia has talked a big game, but people have realised that they can’t keep delivering oil. Trading Commodities

Commodities are raw materials or agricultural products that can be bought and sold, with gold, natural gas, and wheat being examples. Commodities are essential to life – from copper to corn, coal to crude oil – and price fluctuations affect the lives of billions of people worldwide.  Commodities can be traded in two ways: through exchanges or through derivatives such as binary options, CFDs, and spread bets (where permitted). Crude oil, natural gas, and RBOB gasoline are among the most liquid commodities markets in the United States, as are soft commodities such as sugar and wheat. Steel, aluminum, and iron are among the most traded commodities globally in terms of volume. In times of market turmoil, certain commodities, such as gold, can be a wise investment. This is due to the possibility of the asset retaining its value – or even increasing in price – during difficult economic times.  Read More... forex pl #edgeforex #forex #forextrading #forexsignals ...

Risk So far today, risk has remained in a more positive zone. At the very least, equities are getting some breathing room as the week comes to a close. There is still the US session to navigate, and if the wild swings this week have taught us anything, it is to never discount a change in sentiment before the closing bell. But, for the time being, there are some encouraging signs. European indices are up 1.2 percent to 1.6 percent, while US futures are up as well, at least ahead of North American trading. On the day, S&P 500 futures are up 1.1 percent, Nasdaq futures are up 1.7 percent, and Dow futures are up 0.8 percent. Bond yields are also rising, with 2-year Treasury yields rising 6.6 basis points to 2.588 percent and 10-year Treasury yields rising 8.5 basis points to 2.902 percent. In FX, the recent dollar rally has taken a breather, with the greenback holding more mixed with no real technical significance so far today. Read More...  EDGE-FOREX  for...

Inflation

Oil prices plummeted at the start of the pandemic, but demand has since rocketed back to a seven-year high. Gasoline costs an average of $3.31 per gallon in the United States, up from $2.39 per gallon a year ago. It’s a similar story in the United Kingdom and the European Union.  Gas prices have also risen, leaving people all over the world with eye-watering central heating bills.  Prices have risen due to increased demand from Asia, as well as a cold winter in Europe last year, which depleted gas reserves.  Consumers who were unable to go out to restaurants or on vacation due to the lockdown last year spent their money on household goods and home improvements. Manufacturers in Asia, for example, have struggled to keep up with demand since then, with many forced to close due to Covid restrictions.  It has resulted in material shortages such as plastic, concrete, and steel, driving up prices. Timber costs up to 80% more than usual in the UK in 2021...

Russia threatens “retaliatory measures” if Finland joins NATO.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24 has shifted Finland’s and Sweden’s calculus on NATO membership, with the latter seriously considering joining the alliance. Russia has slammed Finland’s plans to join NATO soon, claiming that the country would be “forced” to retaliate if the long-neutral country joined the military alliance.   Russia claimed that Finland’s membership in NATO would violate a previous agreement that “provides for the parties’ obligation not to enter into alliances or participate in coalitions directed against one of them.” It also stated that the 1992 agreement would be violated.  “Finland’s accession to NATO represents a fundamental shift in the country’s foreign policy,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday. “Russia will be forced to take retaliatory measures, both military-technical and otherwise, in order to prevent threats to its national security from emerging.”  Read More...  forex signals ...

ECB Makhlouf, ECB: The era of negative interest rates is coming to an end. It is time to end the APP next month or in July; The current level of inflation is concerning; It is reasonable to expect rates to be in positive territory by early next year; and The ECB is continuing on its path toward policy normalisation. For one of the dovish members to take such a stance, it is clear that there has been a perception shift within the ECB. A rate hike in July appears to be all but certain at this point. Despite the fact that many policymakers have called for the end of negative interest rates, it may still be too early to tell. BOE and The Fed

As long as inflation remains high or appears to be on the rise, the US economy could be in trouble by the third or fourth quarter of this year. The question now is what the Fed will do next. Is the Fed’s path going to be similar to that of the BOE?  First, there was hesitancy on the part of the BOE. They appear to be squeezing the tightening cycle by painting a rather bleak picture of the UK economy. However, at the end of the day, this playbook may not be sufficient on its own.  With rising inflationary pressures and a slowing economy, the Bank of England is attempting to strike a balance in combating the former without exacerbating the latter by tightening policy. UK’s inflation and Cost of Living

Inflation is the gradual increase in the price of something. It is a measure of the rate at which a set of prices rises over a given time period.  The Office for National Statistics (ONS) in the United Kingdom calculates this by recording the prices of hundreds of everyday items, known as the “basket of goods.”  This is always being updated. Items like tinned beans and sports bras were added in 2022, reflecting a growing interest in plant-based diets and exercise.  The Bank of England has warned that inflation could reach 10% within months as the cost of fuel and food puts a strain on household budgets. At the moment, the most significant contributor to inflation is fuel costs. Between February and March, average gasoline prices rose 12.6p per litre, the largest monthly increase since records began in 1990.  Read More... fx trading

Inflation The big question for the day ahead of the US CPI report is whether we’ve reached “peak inflation.” In essence, it’s easy to argue that we’ll see lower inflation readings in the coming months, and that may be all that markets care about – at least for the time being. There are no easy solutions to the world’s problems when it comes to resolving the issues that have caused inflation pressures to skyrocket in the last year. And those problems aren’t going away anytime soon. While it is reasonable to expect less hot inflation numbers in the future, this does not imply that inflationary pressures will be significantly reduced. While it is easy to raise interest rates when inflation is high and argue that it will eventually fall back to 2%, it is not so easy when that someday keeps getting pushed back. At some point, policymakers may need to acknowledge that inflationary pressures will become more persistent and sticky, and that if they are to combat this furth...

Putin’s Victory Day speech

n his 11-minute speech at the Victory Day military parade in Moscow’s Red Square to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia, Putin said the decision to launch the operation against Ukraine on February 24 was the only correct choice, Russia offered a preemptive rebuff to the aggression – this was a forced, timely, and the sole correct decision, one taken by a president. In his Victory Day speech on Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated “calmly but firmly” that Russia needed to take preventative measures in its special operations in Ukraine because NATO had created a “absolutely unacceptable threat” at Russia’s borders. According to Chinese analysts, Putin’s speech was delivered in a “restrained” manner to send a clear signal to the West that Russia will not accept increased pressure to squeeze Russia’s strategic space, while also demonstrating Putin’s willingn...

Profit When Markets Succumb to Fear

The good news for gold investors is that the safe-haven metal is outperforming traditional financial assets. Stocks are collapsing at an unprecedented rate, while ostensibly “risk-free” Treasury bonds are falling in value.  The Federal Reserve’s rate hike last Wednesday failed to persuade investors that the central bank can control inflation without destroying the economy.  Jerome Powell’s remarks insisting that the economy is not vulnerable to recession were intended to persuade the general public, but they failed miserably – especially given the Fed chairman’s poor forecasting track record (“transitory” inflation has proven to be more like intractable inflation). Sentiment indicators show that the general public is extremely pessimistic. Most people believe the country is heading in the wrong direction and are critical of President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy.  Read More... forex trading for beginners #edgeforex #forextrading #forexsignals ...

Sri Lanka’s economic crisis

Ordinary Sri Lankans are facing shortages and rising inflation after the country devalued its currency sharply last month in preparation for talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) about a loan programme. Anger at Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s handling of the island nation’s deepening economic crisis erupted into violence late Thursday, with hundreds of protesters clashing with police for several hours.  Due to a severe lack of foreign currency, Rajapaksa’s government has been unable to pay for essential imports such as fuel, resulting in debilitating power outages lasting up to 13 hours. According to critics, the roots of the crisis, the worst in decades, lie in economic mismanagement by successive governments that created and maintained a twin deficit – a budget shortfall as well as a current account deficit.  With the pandemic eroding the country’s lucrative tourism industry and foreign workers’ remittances, credit rating agencies ...

Bitcoin fell to an intraday low of $32,650.02, its lowest level since July 2021, and was down 5% to $32,860.91 at around 7:12 a.m. ET, according to Coindesk data.  Bitcoin has continued to fall after a larger stock sell-off in the United States last week sent the cryptocurrency market into a frenzy, causing the cryptocurrency to fall by roughly 10%.  This year, the virtual currency has been trading in a narrow range as it attempts to reclaim its late-2021 highs.  The drop comes after the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 1,000 points on Thursday, and the Nasdaq fell 5%. These losses were the worst in a single day since 2020. On Friday, the Dow and Nasdaq fell again.  It is now less than half its peak price of $68,990.90 in November 2021.  Read More... forex signals #edgeforex #forextrading #forexsignals #forex #bitcoin #lowest #fed #stockmarket #selloff #stablecoin #cr...

Global interest rates are rising.

Higher interest rates in advanced economies typically result in capital outflows from riskier emerging market economies like India.  c dampening the outlook for emerging market assets and wreaking havoc on domestic equity and bond markets.  The Bank of England became the latest central bank to raise interest rates in order to combat high inflation on Thursday, raising the country’s policy rate by 25 basis points to 1%.  The move came just hours after the US Federal Reserve raised its benchmark policy rate by 50 basis points in response to the world’s largest economy’s runaway inflation. Stronger Dollar is likely to help inflation.

Rate hike expected from Bank of England

Annual inflation in the United Kingdom reached a 30-year high of 7% in March, as food and energy prices continued to rise. The Bank of England is expected to raise interest rates for the fourth time in a row on Thursday, but economists are concerned that the country is entering increasingly turbulent waters.  Meanwhile, consumer confidence has plummeted amid concerns about slowing economic growth in the aftermath of Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.  At its March meeting, the Bank raised interest rates for the third time in a row, raising the bank rate to 0.75 percent, and the market expects a 25 basis point increase to 1 percent when the Monetary Policy Committee meets on Thursday.  Rather than following the US Federal Reserve with a 50 basis point hike, the Bank may opt for a more gradual approach to tightening.
