Food shortages because of Russia’s invasion could kill more people than the war itself.

 

According to UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps, famine caused by grain and food shortages as a result of Ukraine’s invasion could kill more people than the war itself. 

Poland has become a major entry point for Western humanitarian aid and weapons into Ukraine, as well as a conduit for Ukraine’s grain and other agricultural products to reach global markets. 

Dominic Waghorn, Sky’s international affairs editor, is in Odesa on the Black Sea coast, where massive grain ships are stranded and unable to leave. 

He stated that the UK is discussing a solution with European allies such as Lithuania and is considering sending warships to the area in an attempt to persuade Russia to withdraw.
